Barns, Barking and Boney Piles
A Collection of Stories
About the Villages That Became
Plum Borough

The focus of this book is primarily to give a voice to the stories and recollections of the men and women who lived in Plum Borough in the twentieth century. They either told their own story or told it to another author. These stories are in their own words, telling things as they remembered them.

Our intention, then, is to let them speak in their own voices, keeping our editing to a minimum to ensure the integrity of each story. We tried to honor the writing style of the individual interviewers as well.

We have edited most of the longer stories, using selected parts that fit well into our theme. Other than that, the stories are intact. We hope that our readers will enjoy this glimpse into the past and appreciate these recollections as much as we have.

If readers are interested in the original manuscripts, they are available in the Oliver M. Thompson History Room located in the Plum Library.
